April already... that was fast! My previous journal mentioned my goals of 2018. Lot's of practice, and focus on several disciplines of art, including writing and music. While I haven't been as active as I like, I have been working toward my goals, and have further focused my interests. Just ask the cat:
Well, I suppose he won't really say much, but isn't he cute?
I will be moving all of my previous work into a 2017 and older, folder to make room to organize all the work, forthcoming. 2018-2020 will be dedicated to 3D artwork and modeling, as well as skills surrounding creating scenes and objects for games, renders, and animation. By 2021 my goal is to have several small to medium scale projects out of the way, and at least one large-scale completed or underway, and a slick looking portfolio to show. I have been busy working on brushing up my basic and intermediate modeling skills in Blender 3D. In addition, I have purchased two courses on Udemy, of which I am happily making my way through. I've linked to them both below and totally recommend them, not just for outstanding content, but for community support as well.
Learn 3D Modelling - The Complete Blender Creator Course
Learn to Code by Making Games - Complete C# Unity Developer
I haven't forgotten about the writing or music portion. I will be focusing on writing good introductions and descriptions of my projects, and work on at least one small work of fiction this year. Additionally, I may be retrying my hand at article writing on a fairly regular basis. Still working out the details on that one. We'll see! As for music, I plan on composing some simple melodies for future projects. In the meantime, I've been taking some time each week to just sit down and see what I can come up with on the keyboard.
I have never been so excited, nor have I been able to adequately frame my goals so completely. I am not just setting goals, I am grounding myself in the process. In other exciting news, a good friend approached me about the potential of working together in the near future on something awesome. I can't go into any detail at the moment, but I will say that it is an additional driver for me to hone my skills! Did I say I was excited?
-edited, changed 2025 to 2021. Got a little too generous with the time!
